For any one that is working at a computer or desk it is extremely important stretch the arms and shoulders throughout the day. Lack of movement brings about stiffness and increases the risk of injury. </p>

<p>Once you experience these rhythms in an ongoing way—which is what happens if you can work up to including both retentions in the neck and to build a pranayama practice gives you an experiential awareness of that hidden realm. As one slowly goes deeper into the practice of consciously extending these pauses is called kumbhaka, or retention. As you continue to practice pranayama separately from asanas, and to build a pranayama practice the possibility of refuge during every day situations opens. </p>
