Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one's being, from bodily health to self-realization. Yoga means union - the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one's actions.
~B.K.S. Iyengar, Astadala Yogamala

Serious answer: These are not of God. The Bible is very clear that those who practice such shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Thank you for that responce Kitten, but we where looking for something more constructive than that. To say that: Yoga, meditation, Pranayma, or Ayurvedic medicines are not of God is an extreamly narow view.

My experience has been somewhat limited – I have taken yoga classes and been told that I have natural abilities. I once went to a spa for panchakarma, and it was a good experience (although their facility had a fire shortly before my visit, so I didn’t get the full experience – but did get a discount!).
I would love to learn more, but I am very “Westernized” so a retreat where I would be immersed in the experience would be ideal. Of course, I’d want something that wasn’t just trendy, but where the staff were truly knowledgeable about these studies.

i am not a great student of yoga. however i did enjoy some preliminary lessons. i meditate regularly and find that it is both healing and calming. i believe it has helped me to change my life and focus in a way no other practice could have done for me.

I personally think that the yogic way of life has benefited me in such a profound manner. I do my self-practice of yoga asanas (postures), meditation and pranayama everyday because I know that I am making positive changes to myself physically, mentally and emotionally.
Ayurvedic medicine (and alternative medicine in general) has worked for me because their treatments feel more natural, and my body responses well to this. Although I do not shun Western or modern medicine, I would have to say that they would be my second option. I would rather heal myself without drugs as much as possible. I also believe that the healing process is not only an external solution, but also an internal one– which is why meditation is such a powerful practice.
This is just my opinion. I am not saying that what I practice and follow is better than others. Yoga and its philosophy has become a way of life for me. There are many other paths, but we all are essentially walking towards the same destination. It is a matter of finding your own way of life and your own path.
